I quite enjoyed the life drawing class today. I felt i had improved since the previous week. We experimented with '3 line' drawing where you are only allowed to use three lines to convey the pose of the subject. I found this quite challenging but I see how it forces you to be more economical with your use of lines on the page and trying to capture the line of action and at the same time the position of said limb. We also used white chalk on black paper in a effect to capture the way in which the light fell on the subject. Below are photographs my attempts at these.

Today I began working with some of the MA Broadcasting students on soem news graphics. They are in need of better graphics an well as a house style. I have also been experimenting with some After Effects Plugins and compositing. Below is one of my attempts at visual effects in After Effects CS4. It was made using a short video clip. The camera does not actually move, I have just made good use of the 3D camera tool and space within the software. Action Essentials 2, compositing their pre-keyed special effects carefully I have created this. (Although the chap with the bin bag looks a little suspicious). I was going to add some camera shake but I find the 'wiggle tool' in After Effects can look a bit fake.

We had the first life drawing class of this morning. My wrist was a little stiff as I have not really drawn much over the christmas holidays. It was good to get back into it. I found my figures can look a bit stiff. I need to work on proportion and filling the page as one of the drawings I have not even included because when i stood back the proportion was so off I just started again. This is just a blip as it is the first session. I still have room to grow. Its just time and practice.

Its the start of a new term and I am ready to get going. After taking a look at the new time table I am looking forward to working on modeling environments in Maya 2011 and motion graphics work. I could not help but open up my version of After Effects to mess around with the particle simulations. This is my attempt at fire and amber.

I will be heading back to Falmouth tomorrow (saturday) and the course begins again on Monday. I am looking forward to working on 3D modeling of environments and motion graphics work. I have nothing to do at the moment so here are a few quick s I have just done.
